Vouch has employees across the U.S., with offices in San Francisco, Chicago, and New York City. While this role has hybrid work flexibility, we prefer it to be based near one of our central offices in SF, Chicago, or NYC to help foster close collaboration and team building.
Role Responsibilities:
Vouch seeks a dynamic, driven, and detail-oriented Senior Underwriter with professional and/or management liability lines expertise. In this important role, your key responsibilities will include working closely with a Portfolio Underwriting Manager, our insureds, and sales teams to underwrite accounts within one or more of our innovation economy verticals according to Vouch’с guidelines and underwriting strategy.
A key part of your role will be to seek opportunities to provide creative insurance solutions to our clients and work with Portfolio Underwriting Managers to drive improvements in underwriting efficiency and effectiveness.
Job Duties:
- Underwrite a diverse product portfolio within the Fintech / Financial Institutions innovation economy vertical to deliver target New Business, Renewal Retention, and Loss Ratio goals adhering to Vouch’s underwriting strategy and guidelines
- Refer accounts outside authority to the Portfolio Underwriter with actionable proposals
- Continuously seek ways to standardize the decision-making process from a quantitative and qualitative standpoint to inform and augment our underwriting processes. Clearly document underwriting decisions with rationale in the underwriting file
- Collaborate closely with the sales team on individual deals to ensure the best possible outcomes to drive proprietary product adoption and cross-sell and creative solutions to attract new clients and retain existing customers
- Deliver actionable underwriting decision-making and process improvement proposals
- Collaborate with Portfolio Underwriters and other team members to deliver key inputs into guidelines and underwriting, coverage, and pricing strategies
- Deliver and drive special underwriting projects
About you:
- 5-10 Years of Experience in Underwriting Management and/or Professional Liability lines with either Portfolio and or P&L accountabilities and direct underwriting responsibilities
- Understanding of key P&C lines of insurance and desire to learn new lines
- Ability to demonstrate a relentless commitment to GWP Growth and Loss Ratio performance through diligent underwriting and customer support
- Extreme attention to detail and service orientation
- Insatiably curious and strong desire to make the most effective and efficient underwriting decisions, carefully balancing all key considerations
- Proven ability to clearly articulate underwriting decisions and thought process
- Relentless commitment to process improvement
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- A team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships with team members and external stakeholders

Salary Range:
The pay range for this role is: $120,000 to $190,000 per year. These bands are inclusive of multiple levels and are based on relevant experience. These roles will have a guaranteed base salary and be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.
Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry and are one part of our total compensation package that also includes benefits and other perks. We also include stock options in all compensation packages and believe all Vouch employees should have the opportunity to become owners in the company. Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skill set, location, and business need. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
